Things of Beauty #36
Containers with messages, the portal, community, and more chocolate (always)
This week is all about finding inspiration written on everyday items and opting for more community and more chocolate.
I’d love to know your thoughts on the two articles shared below. I appreciate the framing of mid-life as a portal that can encompass both crisis and awakening in the first one. And the second one addresses so much that is constantly on my mind about friendship and community and how we might try to do things differently in a world full of obligations.
Oh . . . and there’s also a duck running a marathon. Because there is delight in the absurd. And I’m certain we could all use a bit of delight.
Thought-provoking, delightful, and absurd things I’ve stumbled upon lately:
📗 Two great long-ish reads fromat recently:
Are You in the Portal? Really insightful conversations about mid-life transitions, especially for women. I love this concept of thinking of this time as a “portal” into becoming the next version of myself. (I am definitely in the portal.)
The Friendship Dip I’ve shared similar articles here before. How friendships shift and change and how we push back from our learned individualism toward community is something I’m always seeking more insight on.
