I’m tired this week. How about you?
I’m not quite sure what the root of the tired is— maybe a couple recent weekends full of travel, maybe the state of the world, maybe the summer heat. It’s very likely a combo of all this for me. Anyway… I’m trying to take it easy and prioritize rest this week (which is so very easy to say and yet hard not to feel twinges of guilt about— thanks, productivity culture).
I hope you are finding what you need this week, too.
Here are some things that felt particularly soul-nourishing and perhaps even restful recently:
📓 It’s always nice to know that we aren’t alone in how we are feeling. Catching up on some reading recently and loved this post on We Can Do This With Love & Our Medicine about being tired. Especially love the perspective of thinking about times when exhaustion is worth the experiences we are having. How do we embrace that and then rest?
🦔 Ever since I recently googled “what is the difference between a hedgehog and a porcupine” (burning questions here, folks! ) I’ve been served the most delightful hedgehog content on Instagram. Sometimes the creepy algorithm uses it’s forces for good:
🌽 This Fusilli with Corn Sauce is a summer favorite of mine. Highly recommend — especially if corn is in season where you are. (Fresh basil is also a huge plus!) Also it works just fine with any curly pasta if you can’t find fusilli.
🎵 Some friends invited me to see Dirty Heads recently. I wasn’t super familiar with them, but I will almost never turn down an invitation to see live music. It was a perfect outdoor, summer night show! This song was one of my favorites.
🎬 I love a good blooper real and this one that was at the end of our graduation video for students was no exception. Hopefully the laughter is equally contagious when you don’t know all the people.
What’s bringing a smile to your face these days? Also, please send hedgehog pictures (or squirrels— of course I haven’t forgotten my favorites).
I like the song and blooper reel. Those are always smile-worthy. To get a little sunshine into my life, when I cook dinner some nights I'm watching old Will & Grace reruns on Amazon. I also get the MUTTS comic strip delivered to my inbox so there's always a smile waiting for me each day. https://mutts.com/
