Things of Beauty # 45
Beauty in the mundane, the importance of wonder, & small animals with baked goods
If there’s a theme to this week's little collection here, it’s articles that make you think and adorable small animals, both of which feel like solid things to organize a list around.
If spring is beginning to emerge in your corner of the world (as it is in mine), I hope you’re enjoying a few more hours of daylight and if it’s still cold where you are, I'm wishing you all the cozy fires to sit by.
Wishing us all a bit of wonder, this week.
Some good things I’ve squirreled away this week:
🐿 Clearly, as someone who compiles a bi-weekly list of articles/music/food/small animals that inspire me, make me think, or cause me to smile, I appreciated this post about embracing and celebrating the everyday: Most of Your Life is Medium from Tiffany Yates Martin.
🐿 Baby porcupines are called porcupettes (I mean come on, just the cutest):
🐿 This article from
at about fairy shrimp and the wonder that is all around us in the natural world and more importantly why acknowledging that might not be such a “little” thing after all. (In the vein of joy as an act of resistance, perhaps wonder is also).🐿 Just some mice, in a car, with a pistachio croissant on top:
A great framing question from
: “What do you want your days to look like?” I’m definitely still thinking on this one. (Thanks , for thinking I’d love this and sending this my way— I do!).What have you read lately that made you think about something differently, or feel seen? Any cute baby animals or baked goods to share? Tell us something good in the comments!
