I’m getting back from a vacation a little later (and a lot more tired) than planned thanks to the Cloudstrike snafu over the weekend. I’ll be back with Things of Beauty next week and then a full post the week of August 7. In the meantime, please enjoy a few travel pictures and links to the top posts here at Healthier Hustle over the last year.
Scenes from the Road
Gloria Falls in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. It was hot in Salt Lake City, where we were based for vacation last week. Temps over 100 most days—but on this hike, it was at least 20 degrees cooler and the spray from those falls was extremely refreshing. Huge thanks to Amanda over at Amanda Outside for a really helpful article on waterfall hikes near Salt Lake.
Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty on the Great Salt Lake. This decades-old art installation is a great way to see the Great Salt Lake and a real meditation on how the landscape has changed over the years. It was fascinating to walk out on the dry lake bed and dip our fingers in the lake (which has a striking pink hue, which is sort of captured in the left photo below).
Delay after delay, but spotting cute pups in the airport was a welcome diversion, and the St. Paul Hotel in Minnesota was a lovely spot for an impromptu stay, even if just for a few overnight hours (flowers from their lobby below on the right).
*Fun fact, I wrote a novella called Delayed; the idea came to me when I was stuck overnight in the Atlanta airport—wonder what stories will surface from this experience.

Red squirrel, splooting! It was fun to see these little guys playing in the trees on a morning walk. This one stopped to cool off for a bit!
Any summer vacation stories to share? Were you also stuck in airports this past weekend? How many dogs did you see? (I lost count!) What are some of your greatest hits?
We're flying with The Littles next summer for the first time and I am SO nervous. Seeing that picture of the pup in the airport was encouraging!
